While we had some last year, it was nothing like as deep or powdery as on Sunday, and we didn’t have Snoop (our rescue Greyhound) then – so we spent a lot of time out in it yesterday and shot this:

Down in the old gravel lakes in the local nature reserve – pools of pristine snow hidden in the centre of a forrest – every sound was muffled apart from the crunching underneath our feet (and paws). Weekends are never long enough.

This is one from the archive – I was trashing an unloved Tumblr account and noticed this on there..

I caught Aynsley Lister, a great blues artist from the UK, playing at the Carlisle Brickyard in 2005 and he kindly let me take photos. This is one of them:

After the event I sent some of my shots over out of curtesy (they formed a key part fo my portfolio for some time after), and he wrote back asking if he could use one on a tour poster. As a student just getting into gig photography this was like striking gold! An artist I admired using my photo! I’ll post the shot he chose here shortly – and the poster if I can did it out of the attic…

On a recent trip to visit family in the Bristol area we stopped in for dinner at Clevedon one evening. Afterwards we walked down to the shorefront and sat and talked as the sun set. It was a popular spot with 2 other photographers setting up camp waiting for the few fleeting moments as the sun hit the pier and horizon.
